2018’s Town and Gown Series begins with the Intersection Trio on February 15. At 7:30, the acclaimed trio will present a concert at Allen’s Market.
Intersection Trio performs a wide variety of repertoire. A single concert can contain works by Bizet, Brahms, Debussy, Gershwin, Bernstein, and Williams. Audiences are enchanted by the seamless fusion between traditional and the surprising, and the trio’s effortless interaction with each other and the audience.
Violinist Laura Frautschi, cellist Kristina Reiko Copper, and pianist John Novacek are the talented musicians behind the music. Each artist performs and records on their own, as well as in small ensembles across the country.
Laura Frautschi, a Julliard graduate, performs a wide range of classic and contemporary works. She is a concertmaster of the New York City Opera Orchestra, and has toured internationally as a concertmaster of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra.
Kristina Reiko Cooper, also a Julliard graduate, recently toured with the Shanghai Symphony and is a contemporary music enthusiast. She has been hailed by the New York Times as “sensational in concert,” and as a “stunning virtuoso” by the Los Angeles Times.
John Novacek, Intersection’s Grammy-nominated pianist, regularly tours the Americas, Europe, and Asia. He has played with Yo-Yo Ma and Josh Bell and works closely with composers like Sebastian Currier and John Williams.
