From January 7 – February 16, Allied Arts will host “Art From East to West,” an exhibit of Faye Maxwell’s pastel works. Allied Arts Executive Director Brian Renko is excited to host Maxwell’s exhibit, saying that “we love hosting local talent, because it gives the artist a chance to show off to the town, and it gives the community a chance to get to know another great local artist.” The exhibit will be on display at the Marlor Art Center.
Faye Maxwell graduated from the University of Georgia in 1970 with a BSED in Art Education. Before moving to Milledgeville in 1978, she taught in Commerce City and Gwinnett County Schools. Ms. Maxwell then taught at John Milledge Academy for 3 years. She has studied pastels with Victor Richardson from Ireland and Aaron Schuerr in Montana.
Maxwell has previously shown her work as part of the annual Oconee Artists Exhibit at Allied Arts. “Art From East to West” will showcase her incredible talent with pastels. Her pieces show gentle scenes of serene prairies, flowing waterfalls, and beautiful sunsets.
There will be an opening reception on Sunday, January 7, from 1:00 – 3:00 in the Marlor Art Center. Call (478) 452 -3950 with any questions, or visit www.milledgevillealliedarts.com.
