The Eleventh Annual Big Click Exhibit opens on Sunday, December 3. On Monday, November 27, accomplished photographer David Veal visited Allied Arts to judge the entries to this year’s exhibit.
First place was awarded to Dana Thompson for her studio portrait titled “One December Night.” Mr. Veal awarded first place to this whimsical portrait due to the creativity in creating the photo. Mr. Veal awarded second place to “Lady Paige” by Maryllis Wolfgang, a snapshot of a fishing boat. He awarded third place to “Keepsake” by Mary Anne May.
Mr. Veal stated that “all three of the winners scored highly in each of the elements I consider crucial to good photography. These four elements are originality, creativity, skill and craftsmanship, and attractive and neat presentation.” Mr. Veal uses a rating scale of 1 – 5 to judge each entry. He noted that creativity is especially important, as most subject matter has been photographed numerous times.
On December 3, from 1:00 – 3:00, gather at the Marlor Art Center to view the exhibit and speak with the photographers. During the reception, Allied Arts Executive Director Brian Renko will present the winners with awards. All pieces submitted for judging will be on display until December 29, and most pieces are available for purchase. Please call Allied Arts at (478) 452 – 3950 with any questions.
