Porter was born in Fort Valley, Georgia and moved to Milledgeville after graduating high school. He began his career at Central State Hospital and after 34 years of service in several positions, retired from the engineering department. Porter has since dabbled in a variety of hobbies, including the crafts featured in the exhibit, as well as picture framing and crocheting. He has learned from multiple instructors, including potter Kathy Murphy and wood turner Frank Bowers.
The opening reception for this exhibit is from 1:00 – 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 8, 2017. The Milledgeville community is invited to view Mr. Porter’s work, chat with the artist, and mingle with other art enthusiasts. Light refreshments will be served.
